Artificial Intelligence & Data Science

Turn raw, messy data into decisions — and build systems that learn from it.

Artificial intelligence and data science sit at the centre of how modern organisations decide anything at scale. This track teaches both halves: the statistical craft of getting honest answers out of data, and the engineering discipline of putting a model into production where it keeps working.

What you learn

The sequence moves from statistics and data wrangling to classical machine learning, then to deep learning and language and vision models. Every course carries a project on a real dataset, not a cleaned teaching set.

  • 01Data collection, cleaning and feature engineering
  • 02Supervised and unsupervised learning, and how to evaluate them honestly
  • 03Deep learning for language, speech and vision
  • 04Deployment, monitoring and drift — the part most courses skip

Where it is applied here

Departmental research applies these methods to computer vision, cybersecurity and applied machine learning. Undergraduates join that work and are credited on the resulting papers.

After graduation

Where graduates go

  • Data scientist
  • Machine learning engineer
  • Data analyst / BI developer
  • Research assistant, graduate study
